Ortom’s lead not enough as INEC declares Benue gov poll inconclusive

The Benue State Returning Officer, Prof. Sabastine Maimaiko on Monday declared the Benue State governorship election inconclusive.

According to INEC, its decision was because 121,011 electorates were disenfranchised or the election did not hold in their areas, a margin greater than the difference between the two main contenders.

Results declared so far showed that Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP scored the highest number of votes with 410,576 against his opponent Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressive Congress, who polled 329,022 votes.
