Oshiomhole has a word for aggrieved APC members

The All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, has called on members of the party nursing ill feelings to be patient with his new leadership.

Oshiomhole, who was clearly reacting to the formation of Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) by the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) bloc of the ruling party, assured of his readiness to make every possible sacrifice in pursuit of peace in the APC.

Formation of R-APC was announced on Wednesday at a press conference in Abuja by the national chairman of the faction, Buba Galadima.

The group had among other issues cited the ‘improper’ emegence of Oshiomhole and 17 other elected officers of the party at the APC’s national convention held recently in Abuja as one of its major grievances, saying that they were elected without the input of delegates at the convention.

But speaking to newsmen after he received the report of the party’s National Convention Appeal Panel Committee’s report on Wednesday, Oshiomhole said, “My appeal to all those who are aggrieved is to be patient.”

He went further to say, “The assurance is that under my leadership, we will make honest mistakes and once our attention is drawn, we will find courage to make up for our mistake.

“Some people say how can people eat their words? For me, I will eat my words if it is nutritious enough and if that is what I have to do to have peace in the family.”

Noting that he was fully aware of the party’s challenges before deciding to be its chairman, the former Edo State governor promised to, along with the newly elected executive members of the APC, make a difference that will benefit not just the ruling party, but the country generally.

He said, “So, I appeal to people to realise that a blind man can redeem his eyes if he applies the correct medication, but you can’t force it to open overnight.”

According to him, forcing the eyes to open overnight, would create more problems and damage the eye the more.

He added that everybody is important in the party, and assured of his determination to do everything possible to ensure confidence and trust.

“I pray for wisdom and courage and I believe that we have it and we will deploy it for peace within the APC family,” he said.
