Police, DSS threaten to shoot Gov Wike for blocking arrest of judge

Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Dr Austin Tam-George, has described as false the claim that his state governor, Nyesom Wike mobilised to rig the Edo governorship poll.

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole on the heels of the postponement of the governorship election in the state from September 10 to September 28, had alleged that Governors Wike and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state mobilised to rig the Edo governorship election.

But Tam-George in a statement he released in Port Harcourt said the claims by Oshiomhole that the two governors donated N2 billion to rig the election in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were not true and that Wike did not make such financial donation.

Emphasising that Governor Wike has no links with militants in the region and anywhere in the country, he said that the governor only gave moral support to the PDP candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

According to him, the purported claims by Oshiomhole would not deter Wike from continuing to give moral support to democratic forces, not just in the region, but across the country in order to ensure better life for Nigerians.
