Court halts APC's plan to hold indirect primary in Kogi

For the second time since discussions on President Muhammadu Buhari’s frequent trips abroad became a topical issue in different fora in the country, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on Tuesday defended the President and insisted that he can govern Nigeria from anywhere in the world.

Oshiomhole stated this during a courtesy visit to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, in Abuja.

The former Edo State governor had said about a fortnight ago that former President Olusegun Obasanjo spent more days abroad than any other Nigerian leader throughout his eight years tenure as president.

The Presidency had also said on Monday that President Buhari can rule Nigeria from any part of the world.

The APC chief’s comments followed the criticism of the president for signing the amended Deep Offshore Act in the United Kingdom where he is currently on a private visit.

Oshiomhole commended the President for signing the amended Deep Offshore Act in London, saying the act showed he (Buhari) can rule the nation from anywhere.

He said: “I think by signing into law at the Nigerian House in London, it showed that wherever the president is, he is presiding over Nigeria and with the benefit of modern technology we have passed the Mongo Park era.

“So signing it in London for me has also made several statements. Namely, that wherever national interest is involved, the president is on duty and wherever he is he is presiding. I also salute his assenting to the Bill as fast as he did and even at the Nigerian House in London.”
