Oshiomhole Vs Igbinedion: Edo women protest bare chested

Commercial activities at Oba Ovoramen Square and environs of Benin city, the Edo State capital were disrupted for hours today following a protest by hundreds of Edo women over what they said was the insult on the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
The women under the aegis of concerned Edo women said they were also protesting against the many unfulfilled promises of the Governor Oshiomole’s administration in the state.
The women dressed in red attires while some were bare chested, protested through Oba Ovoramen square with stop overs at Mission road junction and the Emotan Shrine at Oba Market road.
They called on the governor to concentrate on improving the lot of the Edo man, an area which they said the governor has not been able to positively impact on.
They called on the governor to be more people oriented that his anti-people policies which the alleged, have further impoverished the people.

The protest march attracted a large crowd of sympathizers as it made its way through Oba Market road enroute Oba Ovoramen Square to the Edo State House of Assembly complex.
After waiting at the complex without being attended to, the protesters continued to other parts of the metropolis.
Some of the protesters said their grievances was what they felt was an insult on the personality of, Chief Igbinedion whom they hold in high esteem as a first class Benin Chief and a man whom they said has contributed immensely to the uplift of not only Edo women but the larger society.
They called on Oshiomhole to tender a public apology to the Esama whom they said brought the governor to limelight.
