Osimhen hits brace, ready for Burundi

Flying Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, who sustained a shoulder injury in a warm-up match against their U-23 counterparts last week ,did not only make the list to Bujumbura, Burundi for 2017 CAF U-20 Cup of Nations qualifying match, but has been declared 100 per cent fit for the encounter.

There were fears last week concerning the player’s fitness after his shoulder was seen heavily bandaged but Osimhen appeared to have  shrugged off the injury after he  scored twice in their training match Tuesday morning.

The team Secretary, Aliyu Lawal, said the medics had urged the fans to wait for the result of the scan before nursing fears over the fitness of the player and it was pleasing to see him prove his fitness in the game.

“Now he has been fully certified fit for the encounter in Bujumbura and that will give us a huge boost on Saturday,” he said.

Asked if the Coach Emmanuel Amuneke-led coaching crew had any knowledge of the Burundians or their tapes, Lawal said they might not need to have those as they had perfected strategies for the first leg duel.

The Nigeria delegation left  Abuja aboard an Ethiopian Airline aircraft Wday at 12.45 pm
