Osinbajo panel says it’ll probe SGF Lawal, DG NIA Oke behind closed-door

The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo-led committee, charged to investigate suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the director-general National Intelligence Agency, Babachir Lawal and Ambassador Ayo Oke respectively, has hinted that the probe will be done behind closed-door.

The Senior Special Assistant on media to the Vice President, Mr. Olaolu Akande, who made this disclosure in a statement on Saturday, explained that the reason the panel opted for behind closed-door investigation of the accused is to allow for full disclosure.

He however said that the committee will invite relevant government officials and private individuals connected to both cases, adding that it will also obtain and analyse documents that may give more information on the issues raised in the two cases.

President Muhammadu Buhari had following a N200million grass-cutting contract scandal against the SGF Lawal and the N18billion cash haul from a private Ikoyi apartment involving Oke, set up the committee to investigate the matter, having suspended the two top government officials.
