Osun discharges index COVID-19 case after 38 days in isolation centre

The Osun State government Saturday confirmed the discharge of the state’s index COVID-19 case.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, who disclosed this in a statement in Osogbo, said the patient was discharged after spending 38 days in the isolation centre.

According to him, the case who arrived Osun from the United Kingdom, was discharged after testing negative for the virus twice.

The commissioner also revealed that three health workers in the state have recovered from the disease.

Isamotu said: “38 days after he was taken in, the State of Osun today discharged its COVID-19 index case after testing negative twice for the virus.

“The case had arrived Osun from the United Kingdom before being taken into the isolation centre, and subsequently to the care facility, where he has been receiving adequate medical care until his full recovery on Friday.

“Similarly, three health workers in the state who tested positive for coronavirus have also tested negative for the second time and are now free of the virus.

“With this development, the total number of active cases in the state is now eight.”
