OSUN GOV ELECTION: Omisore's 'alliance with Osun people' shifts to APC

Social Democratic Party (SDP), governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, clearly has backtracked from his earlier position on support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the run-off election in some areas in Osun State on Thursday.

This was as he had finally accepted to work with the APC to ensure the party emerges winner of the governorship rerun election.

He told newsmen at his residence in Ile Ife on Wednesday, “We have accepted to support the APC for victory in the rerun election tomorrow and thereafter form a coalition government.”

Omisore had in a statement earlier on Wednesday claimed that following visitations by both chieftains of the PDP and the APC, he had advised the two parties to approach the electorate and ask for their mandate as “I have assured them that I will not coerce them for political or social power.”

He had added, “I will not negotiate for personal gains and abandon my people.”

This development came as a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, had claimed that the APC national leader Adams Oshiomhole, paid Omisore N480 million and senatorial position to woo his support for the party.
