Osun SDP chairman, Faforiji resigns

The Chairman of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Osun State, Dr. Bayo Faforiji, has resigned his position and membership of the party.
Faforiji tendered his resignation on Wednesday in a letter addressed to the National Chairman the party.

Faforiji led the SDP through the 2018 governorship poll in Osun State with Senator Iyiola Omisore as the party’s governorship candidate. He had however been at loggerheads with some power brokers in the party.

Dated 2nd of October, Faforiji’s letter of resignation reads in part: “I have come to realise that the requirements of my office as chairman and member of the party in the current circumstances are at variance with the values I believe in, and I wish to protect them as long as God gives me sustenance.”

The former SDP chairman, who confirmed the development when contacted, refused to comment further on it.
