Out-of-favour Daura plots return to Aso Villa

There are indications that out-of-favour Mamman Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, said to be a member of the cabal that had influenced his government’s policy direction since 2015, is set to return to his abode at the Presidential Villa.

Many may not know it, but he he was sacked recently by a combination of forces, and thrown out of the Villa.

Ripples Nigeria understands that Buhari fell out with Daura soon after his return from an image-laundering trip to the United States of America where he held meetings with President Donald Trump at the White House last April.

Sources close to the Villa informed that President Buhari was inundated with reports of misdeeds by Daura while working as his protector.

According to our source, the President’s wife, Aisha, finally got the ears of her husband and made him listen to her discoveries about Daura’s alleged dealings in the Villa, which left the president disappointed.

It was gathered, that a disappointed Buhari turned his back on Daura while his wife and children made efforts to push him away from the President.

According to further inquiries, Daura was said to have been pushed out of the Villa by the President’s wife who was alleged to have insisted that he must not be allowed back.

It was further alleged that Daura’s loss eventually proved liberating for the President who allowed his wife to take charge of his affairs in the Villa.

It will be recalled that the President’s wife had in October 2016 voiced her frustration over how a cabal had hijacked her husband’s government and worked it to their own personal advantage.

Aisha had said then that “these people I am complaining about are not more than two or three. I am pleading with them to have sympathy for the people, open their arms to embrace all for the smooth sail of governance not even for today’s sake but even against 2019. What I fear for them is the revolt of over 15 million Nigerians”.

It was understood, that the fear of rejection at the 2019 polls may have forced the President to look the other way while his wife and children pushed Daura out forcing him to relocate to Kaduna where he has been hibernating while plotting his return.

A source very close to the drama confided in Ripples Nigeria that while the President’s wife took control of his personal affairs in the Villa, those affected by the Daura expulsion, have been at work plotting his return.

According to the source, Daura may eventually make it back to the Villa as President Buhari may not stand the treatment meted to his nephew, who has been his guide and “protector” in his political journey.

“He is very close to the president and may not be allowed to stay too long outside the villa”, said a source close to the drama.

However, another source indicated that Daura returned to the Villa on Tuesday night.
