Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, owner of Rojenny Stadium in Oba, near Onitsha, is eager to see his renovated edifice host an international match of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The Stadium, with natural grass, is one of the few sporting complexes in Anambra state, and has its floodlights recently installed, plus other remarkable renovation work ongoing.

It served as a camping ground for the Wilson Oruma-led Golden Eaglets team who went on to lift the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan in 1993.

Ezeonwuka, chief executive officer of the tourist/games village, in a chat with Complete Sports, is confident that his stadium will can host Super Eagles matches given facilities that is in place.

“You can see it yourself. The renovation work is complete. The grass is natural and lush green with our groundsmen always on ground,” Ezeonwuka said.

“You can also see the floodlights, two stands already mounted. The other two stands will soon arrive.

“With the state of the art facilities, it won’t be impossible for Super Eagles games to be played here.”

The test run of the Rojenny Stadium floodlights was done on Tuesday after they were mounted.

Rojenny Stadium is home ground of Nnewi United, a second tier Bet9ja Nigeria National League (NNL) side.

It had previously served similar purposes for (now defunct) Jasper United and Udoji United football clubs, Complete Sports noted.
