Oyedepo denies inciting Christians, says ‘break Nigeria now’ video not new (Video)

The General Overseer (GO) of Living Faith Church Worldwide International, also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has denied the video trending online where he was seen inciting Christians against Muslims.

He had in the video declared, “Lord, if it’s your will to break up Nigeria, break it now.” The clergy also laid curses on those fermenting crisis and killing innocent Nigerians, a statement many supposed was meant for suspected Fulani Herdsmen, who recent report claimed murdered over 800 Southern Kaduna Christians.

“God sent me as His apostle of liberation to this continent to stop it from decadence. I heard from God and He has proved it beyond measure. Therefore, every occultic root, every political root of this uprising is cursed today!

“All the northern forces that are sponsoring this uprising and killings, I decree the curse of God upon them. Lord, if it is your will to break up Nigeria, break it now!” Oyedepo has said in the video.

But the church in a statement by its spokesperson, Dr Sheriff Folarin, denied the video has anything to do with the recent killings of Christians in Southern Kaduna.

According to him the video was an old one and was shot in 2015.

He said, “The message bears no relevance to today’s happenings; not even developments of 2016. The reporter(s), either being completely unprofessional, lazy or simply wicked, made the 2015 message looks like a 2017 church service message. The trending video is NOT a 2016 or 2017 video.

“To this end, we can unequivocally and authoritatively say that this quote, the report and other similar reports do not fit the context of the Kaduna crisis or any developments whatsoever in the last one year. The reports are therefore, fake, unbelievably and maliciously fabricated and outright lies. They are tweaked, baseless and fraudulent.

“Bishop Oyedepo has not said, either in private or public, anything related to the Southern Kaduna killings; not now, not hitherto. If there has been anything done, it has been prayer for peace and unity of Nigeria. The intent of the original author(s) or fabricators is best known to them.”

Watching this video, one would realize the audio and the lips didn’t correlate with each other, that’s why the audio isn’t clear. This video was tweaked, no doubt.

Pastors that are supposed to be praying for the peace of Nigeria are laying heavy curses against the country, how will Nigeria now know peace ? For this pastor to have prayed against Nigeria in the past, then I’m sorry for our pastors

I am not sure you are sensible enough to listen to the man’s sermon, he never cursed Nigeria in any way. After all I am not a member of his church but truth has to be told.

One wonders what spirit inspires such. It is very pathetic what we have as Pastors these days.

I don’t know why nowadays pastors are on the spotlight on social media just to pull them down. This must be the work of the devil.
