Oyegun must go'' protest persists as group storms APC nat’l hqtrs again

For three consecutive working days, members of the Buhari/APC Anti-Corruption Support Group persisted in their demonstration demanding the removal of national chairman, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) John Odigie-Oyegun.

The group for the second time, stormed the national headquarters of the ruling APC on Monday insisting on their demand for Oyegun’s removal.

The group commenced its protests on Thursday last week at the headquarters of APC and some streets of Abuja.
On Friday, theyconducted a mass protest to the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja, where the APC members attempted to submit a petition on corruption allegations against the embattled national chairman which the EFCC turned down citing technical reasons.

When the group resumed its protest on Monday, the number of protesters had increased and was apparently more vociferous in their protest.

Protesting in their hundreds, the APC members who said they are in support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election, insisted that Oyegun must quit to allow for peace in the party and assurance of success for the president in the 2019 presidential election.

Led by Comrade Ishola Adesina and Alhaji Toyin Raheem, the group vowed to continue their protests until Chief Oyegun is unseated as the APC national chairman.

After about four hours of picketing and causing traffic gridlock on the Blantyre Street location of the APC national headquarters, the protesters dispersed but not until the leaders had submitted a protest letter to officials at the party’s national secretariat.
