Oyetola sworn in as 5th Osun state governor

Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, has been sworn in as the 5th executive governor of Osun State.

The governor alongside his Deputy, Benedict Alabi took the oath of office at the Osun township stadium in an event attended by dignitaries including Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state.

Oyetola, 64, succeeds Rauf Aregbesola (2010-2018) who succeeded Olagunsoye Oyinlola (2003-2010)

Others before them include Chief Bisi Akande (1999-2003) and Isiaka Adeleke (1992 and 1993).

Oyetola defeated PDP’s Senator Ademola Adeleke in the rerun election conducted with a margin of 482, the smallest margin ever in Nigeria’s governorship elections.

Born in Iragbiji in Boripe LGA of Osun State on 29 September 1954, Oyetola is expected to use his economic and financial skills into turning around the fortune of the state.
