Ozekhome gets Court order to serve EFCC chair Magu by substituted means

Justice Silvanus Oriji of a Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday granted the prayer of Monday Ubani and senator Christopher Enai to serve the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu by substituted means.

Counsel to the duo Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), had filed an ex-parte motion for EFCC to charge them to court or release them on bail on or before March 28, a leave that was granted by Justice Orji on March 26.

”In exercise of the power of the court under Order 7 rule 11, I grant this motion,” Justice Orji ruled.

The bailiff, Ishaya Markus, was, however, denied access to Magu by armed security personnel at his office at the EFCC headquarters.

The commission had on March 19 detained Ubani, a former President of the Ikeja branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and Enai, the former lawmaker representing Bayelsa.

While still awaiting to be charged to court, they were held to ransom for standing as sureties for Ngozi Olejeme.

Olejeme  served as the Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund from 2009 till 2015.
