Police dismiss 3 officers who raided Clark’s home, but Nigerians ask for more

Aloysius Ikegwuonu, known as Bishop, who the gunmen that attacked St Philip’s Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu, were allegedly looking for has been invited for interrogation by Anambra State Police Command.

Gunmen had penultimate Sunday attacked and killed no less than 13 worshipers in the church and injured several others.

The governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, and the police in the state had claimed the attack in the church was as a result of gang fight between two brothers, and natives of Ozubulu.

One of the alleged brothers is ‘Bishop’, who allegedly operated a drug ring along with his other brother, whose name was not revealed. Both men are said to be residing in South Africa.

The hooded gunman is said to have invaded the church in search of Bishop, over a deal that went awry.

Bishop, whose father was among the worshipers that lost their lives, was outside the country when the incident happened. He was said to have returned to the country last Saturday and worshiped at St Philip’s on Sunday.

He had also visited victims of the attack in hospital last Monday.

Following his return, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anambra State, Mrs. Nkiru Nwode, on Tuesday announced that Bishop is expected to appear at the police headquarters in Awka on Friday for questioning.

According to Nwode, the invitation should not be seen to mean arrest as the police currently had no reason to arrest him.
