Panic as explosion rocks Lagos

Residents of Oworonsoki area of Lagos State were thrown into panic and disarray on Sunday when an explosion rocked the area, at about 2:15pm when most residents were returning to their respective homes after Church service.
It was gathered that the explosion, at Number 88 Oworo Road, which caused injury to at least four people was reportedly caused by the gas compressor of a freezer, at a beer parlour, also affected the perimeter fence of a nearby hotel.
The explosion also blew off the roof of the beer parlour and some of the roofing sheets landed on the victims’ heads.

According to eyewitnesses, the injured persons including a little girl were rushed to an hospital in the area for medical attention.
Confirming the incident, Director, Lagos Fire Service, Mr. Rasaq Fadipe, said immediately they received the distressed call at about 2:20pm, men of the Ilupeju Fire Service were dispatched to the area.
According to him, “We are still investigating the incidence to determine the immediate or remotes cause of the explosion.”
