The payment of the balance of 50 per cent of the Paris Club refund may not be released before the end of this year, investigations have revealed.

Punch correspondent gathered from sources in government that a suit instituted by the consultant over the non-payment of the commission agreed with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum had threatened the release of the fund.

A top government official, who spoke to Punch correspondent on condition of anonymity on Friday night, said that while the Ministry of Finance was ready to release the 50 per cent balance of the fund as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari, the fresh suit by the consultant to the NGF had put the payment on hold.
