Patrice Evra sets unwanted Europa League record
Patrice Evra has become the first player in Europa League history to be sent off before the start of a game after he attacked a fan on Thursday night.
The France international did not make it to the start of the game as his side, Marseille faced Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal.
Footage appeared to show the 36-year-old defender aiming an acrobatic kick at a fan on a sideline of the pitch during the warm-up.

Reports from the scene claim that Marseille fans, who are unhappy with Evra’s level of performance this season, broke through the stadium barriers to confront him, prompting his violent outburst.
He was red-carded before the kick-off, and his side started with 11 players.
Any further action will be decided by Uefa’s disciplinary body, most likely on Friday.
