PDP accuses APC of conducting voters’ registration

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of criminally conducting a parallel voters’ registration in the state.

The party is alleging that APC has been indulging in the shady act to have undue advantage over the ruling PDP, in the governorship election slated for November 26.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) started the continuous voters’ registration for the election on Wednesday to end on Sunday.

But the PDP Director of Publicity, Mr. Ayo Fadaka, in a statement made available to newsmen alleged that the APC was running unholy centres in order to compromise results of the forthcoming election.

He described the act as “criminal and absolutely unpatriotic.”

He stated that “We want to bring to the notice of Nigerians that the All Progressives Congress is currently involved in a parallel voters’ registration exercise, just as INEC is currently executing same programme, essentially to capture our young adults in the Voters’ Register.

“It is now a common sight in all local governments across the state capturing the bio-data of people at this material time. It is also important to also declare that we got wind of this development earlier in the week and we wrote letters to the security agencies in the state on Monday, June 24, 2016, informing them and equally requesting that they be proactive and arrest this criminal development, but it seems our desire in this regard has been rejected.

“We again appeal to INEC and the security agencies to again stop the APC from taking actions geared towards compromising our elections through the implementation of fraudulent projects like this.

“We also warn that the APC may be unwittingly sowing a seed of discord in this state if it continues to design programmes that are intended to rig elections. It just won’t work as the PDP will do all within its capability to ensure that our elections must be free and fair. A word, they say, is enough for the wise,” he stated.
