PDP accuses Gov Bello, APC of being masterminds of gunshots during primary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the governor of Kogi, Yahaya Bello and the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the gunmen attack during its primaries.

Gunmen had In the early hours of Wednesday disrupted the party’s governorship election primaries in the state, when sporadic gunshots rented the air.

But responding to the incident in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, following the incident,
PDP issued a stern warning to Governor Bello and APC.

It said resort to “violence and bloodletting cannot save the failed governor (Bello) and his party the APC.”

The PDP added, “The people of Kogi State are firm in the irreversible resolve to use every means available in a democracy to confront and vanquish APC’s evil plots ahead of the November governorship election.

“It is clear to all that Governor Yahaya Bello has become chaotic in the face of his rejection by the people as well as the soaring popularity of the PDP in Kogi State, and has now resorted to violence in a failed desperate attempt to prevent our party from presenting a candidate for the election.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP had a peaceful, decent, clean, clear, credible and transparent process in the conduct of our primary. Accredited delegates had voted and the balloting had been concluded in a very orderly manner before the vicious attack by the gunmen, who were shouting pro-Bello mantra and accompanied by known APC faces.”

The party said that Bello and his APC by the attack had helped its governorship aspirants, critical stakeholders, leaders and teeming members and supporters across the state to be more united.

The state governorship election will hold on the 16th of November.

Whoever emerges PDP candidate and candidates of other political parties will contest the state governorship seat with incumbent governor Bello, who is the APC candidate.
