Senator Buruji Kashamu has been appointed as the chairman of the 42-man Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.

The senator who represents Ogun East will lead the committee with the chairman of the party in the state, Bayo Dayo, as his deputy while Semiu Sodipo will serve as the secretary of the committee.

This came despite the rift between the Kashamu faction of the PDP in Ogun and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party led by Uche Secondus.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had recognised the candidates’ list submitted by Kashamu’s faction chaired by Dayo against the one submitted by Secondus-led NWC.

Dayo, who spoke at the inauguration of the committee on Wednesday at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta, called on the committee members to work concertedly to make sure the PDP presidential candidate emerge winner in the 2019 electrons.

Dayo said that the PDP will unseat the ruling party in Ogun come 2019 and that the “power of incumbency can’t stop us this time around.”

He added, “Our presidential candidate is a man of the people and he is a man that can lead the nation.”
