The PDP has raised the alarm over a fresh plot by the APC legislators in the Ekiti State House of Assembly to impeach the state’s governor, Ayodele Fayose and called for the intervention of Preisdent Muhammadu Buhari to save democracy.

Acting Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus while speaking at a PDP retreat for elected lawmakers in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday said, “The APC lawmakers are presently camped at a location in Osun in preparation to be moved to Ekiti. We call on President Buhari to intervene. As a party, we will not sit down and watch democracy being derailed. We have been working on deepening democracy for the past 16 years. We must continue to deepen it and I call on you to continue to defend democracy.”

Secondus said the party considered it illegal and a test of its patience if the Ekiti lawmakers and their backers will be allowed to make real their intentions.

Governor Fayose, on his part, called on President Buhari and Justice Mahmoud to call the 19 APC lawmakers to order.

Fayose, who spoke with newsmen at the Governor’s Lodge over the tension elicited by the speculated move of the APC legislators, insisted that all the entitlements of the APC lawmakers have been paid contrary to Speaker Adewale Omirin’s claim that they were yet to be paid.

The governor flaunted copies of the Skye Bank cheques dated May 26, 2015, issued to the lawmakers to corroborate his claim.
