PDP candidates allege irregularities in Cross River local council election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in Cross River State have alleged hijack of electoral materials in Saturday’s local government election by supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mrs. Jennifer Usani and Mr. Emmanuel Asinde, the PDP candidates in Yakurr and Obudu LGAs, stated this in separate chats with journalists in the areas.

They decried the absence of voting materials in their respective LGAs.

Usani said: “As we speak, there are nobody, polling officials, and security agencies, in the polling units across Obudu, and obviously, there cannot be voters in the absence of officials and security.

“Indeed, we were ready for the election but it seems they were never ready for us.”

Asinde alleged that voting only took place in the ward of the APC candidate in Obudu.

“There is no election in the 10 wards, except that of the APC candidate in Obudu,” he claimed.
