Despite denial Dokpesi insists APDA was Makarfi's plan B

Founder of the DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi has officially unveiled what may after all be the alternative political platform for aggrieved members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Dokpesi, in company of former national chairman of the Labour Party (LP) Dan Nwanyanwu, and others on Monday inaugurated a new political party called Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA).

The same name has been taunted on several occasions as the platform that is being prepared for aggrieved members of the PDP who have been in a battle to wrestle the PDP from the hands of Sen Ali amodu Sheriff.

The party has been embroiled in crisis with two factions: one led by Sheriff as national chairman, and the other by Sen Ahmed Makarfi who is the chairman of national caretaker committee of the party.

Both factions are presently at the Supreme Court, waiting for judgement on who is the authentic leader of the party.

Makarfi’s faction had appealed the judgement of the Appeal Court of Port Harcourt which had declared Sheriff authentic chairman of the party.

But prominent members of the party including Ekiti state’s governor, Ayo Fayose and a former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani- Kayode have vowed never to remain in the party under the leadership of Sheriff, if the apex court rules in his favour.

This is pure waste of investment, this party cannot be stronger than PDP that it aims at taking over from.

The party is still very fresh, its future cannot be determined yet. Let’s see what it has in stock for us in 2019 before we start wagging our tongues.
