PDP CRISIS: Sheriff, Makarfi sign peace pact, agree to unite

An end to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seems to be near as senators Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi led factions of the party have resolved to unite for the good of the party and to desist from being at each other’s necks.

This development took place in Abuja on Thursday following a meeting between the two warring groups.

The meeting was brokered by the party’s Reconciliation Committee headed by Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson.

During the meeting, PDP national chairman, Sheriff and the chairman of the national Caretaker Committee of the party, Makarfi, signed a peace pact to end to exchange of words existing between the two factions.

While the two leaders were not present at the meeting, their representatives however were fully on ground and signed the agreement on behalf of their principals.

The communique arising from the meeting was read to newsmen by erstwhile Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ibrahim Mantu.

“All actors of the party should desist from making derogatory, inflammatory and divisive statements against party officials, stakeholders and members.

“That the party should not dissipate her energy amongst itself but to focus on how to unite and be a formidable opposition capable of taking over power from the failed All Progressives Congress-led government.

“That all key actors in the on-going peace process should henceforth desist from making public press statements attacking each other and statements insinuating negative acts capable of dragging the party to the mud.

“In conclusion all Key actors in the PDP have agreed to work together with National Reconciliation Committee led by Governor Seriake Dickson to engender peace and genuine reconciliation,” the communiqué read.

From Sheriff’s faction, Mr Ahmed Gulak and the acting national publicity secretary of the PDP, Mr. Bernard Mikko, signed the communique while Prince Dayo Adeyeye, spokesperson for Makarfi faction and Dave Iorhemba, signed on behalf of the Makarfi-led group.

PDP crisis seems to have worsened after Port Harcourt Appeal Court judgment sanctioned Sheriff as the authentic chairman of the party.

Makarfi is already challenging the ruling before the Supreme Court, which has fixed May 4 for continued hearing in the case.

Fruitless meaning. The two major personalities are absent and they said they have agreed to sign peace pact especially the diatribe of a thing between them. They just started .

This is the only good news I’ve read this morning. Now we can begin to focus on returning to power in 2019. PDP is here to stay and claim what belong to us in 2019.

So, you think this new development will return your party into power? My advise for you is not to put all your eggs in one basket, PDP will disappoint you in 2019, prepare your mind and be getting ready to join another political party

Now that peace has finally been restored, shame on APC, Obasanjo and others who were enjoying the problems! With peace and unity enemies will be put to shame in 2019

If sheriff and markafi can unite truly, sincerely apc should be ready to leave comes 2019 because a ram that shifts back, has gone to be restrengthen.

That is a baseless Yoruba adage. A ram that goes back has lost it. Pdp is a crumble and can’t be made whole or complete again.
