PDP declares APC’s time in power ends in 2027
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a strong critique of the All Progressives Congress (APC), branding it a party of “political vampires” that thrives on exploiting citizens while inflicting significant hardship on Nigerians.
In a statement in Abuja on Monday, the PDP characterized the APC as a coalition of power-seekers, treasury looters, and manipulators focused solely on “grabbing, snatching, and running off with Nigeria’s resources,” leaving countless citizens in distress.
Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, was responding to recent attacks on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde by the APC, condemning them as “reckless, insensitive, and an arrogant display of failure.”
Makinde has been outspoken about the difficulties Nigerians face under the APC administration.
Ologunagba remarked, “The APC’s attack on Governor Makinde confirms that they are jittery as their days are numbered. Nigerians have seen through the APC’s lies, manipulations, and suppressive policies that demonstrate incompetence in governance.”

He praised Governor Makinde as a “credible and effective leader,” highlighting his numerous development initiatives in Oyo State. Ologunagba noted that Makinde’s efforts, alongside other PDP governors, reflect a commitment to development, democracy, and resisting the APC’s attempts to establish a one-party state.
Expressing disbelief at the APC’s claims that Nigeria is “on the cusp of prosperity,” Ologunagba pointed to the rampant insecurity, economic hardship, and crumbling infrastructure as evidence of the party’s “anti-people policies.” He asserted, “It’s absurd for the APC to think it can deceive Nigerians with false claims of performance when it has failed on all fronts, undoing the progress made during the PDP’s 16 years in power.”
He further condemned the economic decline under the APC, stating, “The Naira, which traded at N168 to the Dollar under the PDP, now exchanges at almost N2,000 per Dollar. Petrol prices have soared from N87 per liter to over N1,500, a bag of rice has risen from N8,000 to over N100,000, and the cost of staple foods like beans and garri has skyrocketed.”
Ologunagba accused APC leaders of “looting the nation’s treasury to fund their lavish lifestyles” while Nigerians suffer unprecedented difficulties. He suggested that the APC’s recent personal attacks and manipulation of data indicate a sense of desperation as 2027 approaches.
He concluded, “The APC should acknowledge its failures and prepare to exit in February 2027. The PDP, backed by Nigerians, will end the APC’s political journey, putting this contraption where it belongs—in political oblivion.”
