PDP elongates Makarfi Caretaker Committee’s tenure by 4 months

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended the tenure of SenatorAhmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the party by four months,

The decision was one of the highlights of the party’s non-elective convention held at the Eagles Square, Abuja on Saturday.

Although the tenure of Makarfi-led NCC ended this Saturday, the party however asked the committee to continue for another four months to enable it settle down and organise an elective national convention of the party later in the year.

The parties NCC’s tenure following the extension will now expire on December 12 , 2017.

Speaking at the occasion, PDP Governors Forum chairman and Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, who officially unveiled his presidential ambition at the convention said that Nigerians entered ‘one chance’ voting the All Progressive Congress (APC) into power.

However, he said that APC having failed will have to go by 2019 so that PDP will return to deliver the country.

He said, “Nigerians have entered one chance in this government. But we can assure you that the APC has entered one term and they have to go.

“The PDP is now a religion, a belief that we are going back to our villa. God will be with us. Those people there, at Aso Rock, they don’t know what they are doing.

“Out of that one chance, we will give you plenty chances. We make mistakes but our ability to correct them if what is important. It is time to arise and shine.

“Shake the persons next to you and tell him or her congratulations for 2019. I don’t know about you but as for me, I am in Aso Rock already.

“I want to congratulate our great party and to assure Nigerians that we are going to deliver them from all they are passing through”, he stated.
