Following her withdrawal from the presidential tribunal petition panel, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the Appeal Court President, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, saying her decision was pleasing to the party.

While reacting to the development, the major opposition party said its petition against the Appeal Court president was purposely to help her protect her name and also safe the face of the judiciary from the mess.

Speaking further, the party said Bulkachuwa has done well to have taken the decision, stressing that natural justice requested her to toe the line.

The national spokesperson of the party, Mr Kola Ologbodiyan, said in a phone conversation with Ripples Nigeria on Wednesday night that “the development was a welcome decision that will earn our judiciary respect across the world.

“PDP has nothing against the woman, all we needed was transparency in the hearing and she has done well”.

Also reacting, National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus said, “We have nothing personal against her lordship. Rather, what we did was to help her protect her name. Natural justice demands she doesn’t sit in such a case. That’s what she has done. That’s fine by us. We are okay with her decision.”

Recall that Bulkachuwa decided to recuse herself from the tribunal petition panel despite the unanimous ruling of the five-man panel of the tribunal dismissing the application by PDP.
