PDP has been rejected in Bayelsa – APC’s Lyon

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the November 16 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State, David Lyon, has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “sinking ship.”

He said due to Governor Seriake Dickson’s alleged greed, poor performance and arrogance, the PDP had become unattractive and rejected by the people of the state.

The APC candidate said Governor Dickson should understand that governorship is not a talk show and that Bayelsans knew about his antics of propaganda and falsehood.

He stated these in a statement issued on Thursday by his media aide, Gift Ebiki, and made available to journalists in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Dickson had earlier on Wednesday attacked Lyon and the APC.
He described Lyon and his party as unpopular in the state and accused them of conspiring with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the forthcoming governorship election.

But in his response, Lyon said he believes more in problem-solving and not noisemaking.

He said: “By virtue of my training as a scientist, having studied Chemistry and Mathematics, I am prepared to solve the problems of my people. We have identified the problems and we are going to solve them.

“We won’t speak too much grammar about it. We will simply roll up our sleeves and get to work. It is on record that those who talk too much have little or no action. Most of them abuse public resources, divert our commonwealth to their private and family pockets and then use beautiful grammar to cover up. For me and my team, our actions and performances will do the talking.”

Describing the PDP as a “sinking ship’, he said Dickson should be more concerned that the national leadership of the PDP was absent at the campaign launch, adding that the governors elected on the platform of the PDP, including the ones sharing borders with Bayelsa State, stayed away from the rally.
He said the development confirmed that Dickson’s anointed candidate and running mate are unpopular at home and abroad.

He added: “I want to tell Dickson that governorship is not a talk show. Dickson should also know that every Bayelsan understands his (Dickson’s) antics of propaganda and falsehood. Dickson should know that Bayelsans are well informed and need someone who has the capacity to provide food for the people, create employment opportunities, improve their standard of living and build lasting infrastructures.”
