PDP joins FG versus Ekiti row, says fund seizure plot to destabilise Fayose

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ekiti State Chapter has debunked claims by the Federal Government as to why it stopped paying Ekiti State from the Budget Support Facility (BSF).

The party said that nothing more explained the reason for the “anti-people” move if not a deliberate effort to destabilise Governor Ayodele Fayose’s government and make the state ungovernable before Ekiti 2018 governorship election.

Fayose had accused the Federal Government of refusing to pay his state BSF for the month of January after it had paid other states of the federation.

He also on Thursday stormed the ministry of finance, demanding to see the minister for explanations as to how his state did not receive payment.

In response, the Federal Government, in a statement later on Thursday, explained that it took the step because the state failed to meet the conditions reached with the state governors on the programme.

However, the state PDP in a statement issued in Ekiti, accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of masterminding the action.

In the statement released by the state PDP publicity secretary, Mr Jackson Adebayo, he said “APC-led Federal Government had become a party of woe that would not care about the welfare of the people it governed.

“It’s only in a despotic state you can think of government playing politics with the welfare of the governed, while decorating governance with blind vengeance as it operates now with the APC- led Federal Government.’’

Adebayo reiterated that PDP has been vindicated by its various alarms in the past that APC-led Federal Government has finalised plans to “wreak havoc in the state through dastardly actions that would undermine the government of the state, as part of its quest to wrestle power from the PDP in 2018.”

Adebayo added, “The Ekiti PDP condemned this wickedness masterminded by the APC to stifle life out of the people of the state.”
