PDP made N11.5bn from 2023 elections, spent N7.9bn —Report

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) generated a total of N11.5 billion between February and March 2023 through the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms, as well as levies and dues from party aspirants and political office holders.
According to the party’s audited financial report, submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in compliance with the Electoral Act, N7.93 billion of the funds were spent on state congresses, the national convention, and election campaigns for various positions during the 2023 general elections.
The breakdown of the party’s revenue shows that the sale of forms for presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives, and state assembly elections contributed the largest portion of the N11.5 billion income.

In terms of expenditure, N3.1 billion was allocated to the party’s state congresses and national convention. An additional N1.7 billion was disbursed to states and candidates involved in the electoral process.
The party also spent N72.07 million on allowances for party agents, and N233.4 million on training, workshops, and lectures during the election period. Other notable expenses included N166.5 million for personnel costs and N27.7 million for the hiring of buses.
