PDP TO OBASANJO: Mind your business, leave us alone

Failure to conclude high-profile corrupt cases a huge concern, Obasanjo says

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wants former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to let the party alone to sort out its crisis.

Reacting to Obasanjo’s comment that the party is ‘sunk and gone’, Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Senator Walid Jibrin, wondered why Obasanjo still had such “harsh comments” for the party when nobody forced him out.

Obasanjo, on Friday, had said that the fortunes of the PDP had started dwindling soon after he and a former national chairman of the party, Chief Ahmadu Ali left it.

he spoke while speaking at a symposium on Friday in Abeokuta as part of activities to mark his 80th birthday celebration and the formal opening of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL).

The former president said, “We were controlling 30 out of the 36 states. When Ahmadu and I left, the fortune of the PDP began to sink.

“Whether you believe it or not, today PDP is sunk and gone. May the fortune of Nigeria never sink like that of the PDP.”

Unhappy with Obasanjo’s comment, Sen Jibrin told The Nation said, “I do not see any point in his harsh comments about a party he is no longer a part of. We bear Chief Obasanjo no grudge and we don’t want to believe that he still bears any grudge against the PDP.”

According to him, the PDP “can never die”, and that steps are being taken to resolve the leadership crisis rocking the party.

Jibrin, denied claims that some chieftains of the party are seeking the registration of Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDP) as a plan B, in the event they are unable to wrestle it from Sen Ali Modu Sheriff.

“We’ve never met to discuss anything like that because we are still pursuing our appeal at the Supreme Court so people must be careful what they do,” he said.

“Any group of persons has the right to approach the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to seek registration of a political party. However, nobody has the right to register another party that would be in conflict with an existing one”, he added.

Obasanjo is irresponsible and we know that. Saying PDP’s fortune has lost means he also has lost his human senses. Let’s just leave the old fool to keep disgracing himself in the public

You father is also not responsible! How can you say an elderly man is not responsible because he stated the obvious about PDP? Better be careful of your utterances.

Since Obasanjo left PDP disgracefully, he has been using harsh words for the party, I feel they ought to have been used to his unpalatable words by now. He’ll soon get tired of talking about PDP by the time they put him to shame by solving their crisis.

Fayose has already replied obasanjo to emulate people like Abdulsalam Abubakar and stop being unruly. To me personally, Obj should distantiate himself from politics if he wants to be highly respected like Nelson Mandela.

Pdp and their wahala, it is not my problem as apc are doing well and thriving. Apc is the only reigning party in Nigeria for now and that’s all.
