PDP rejects results from seven states, petitions INEC

Published

on

The PDP says it has petitioned INEC seeking the umpire to cancel results of the presidential and National Assembly elections from seven states namely; Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Katsina and Kogi States.

The party stated that the call was necessitated by what it described as electoral malpractices, adding that the party had to petition INEC through its RECs in the affected states based on concrete facts collated by its party’s field agents;.

PDP’s Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus who addressed journalists on Monday alleged that in the seven states, under aged voters were allowed to vote in contravention of the Electoral Act, and that voting took place late in the night in the affected states, thereby creating room for rigging.

According to him, “we want to put the entire World on notice the evil plans of the main opposition, the All Progressive Congress, APC, in their clandestine meetings of releasing unauthorised election results to members of the public.

“The sole aim of this is to be misleading Nigerians and the international Community through their propaganda machinery. We believe in the rule of law and the electoral law as amended”.
