PDP reveals Buhari’s ‘second term agenda’, dubs Osinbajo ‘product of corruption’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned Nigerians not to repeat the mistake of re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

The party said that should Buhari secure re-election after his failed first term, he will further divide and impoverish Nigerians.

The PDP said this in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Sunday, in response to Buhari’s weekend claim that his re-election bid was not for selfish reason but to bring change to Nigeria.

But the PDP said, “President Buhari’s first term score card showed anti-people policies and failure to serve the good of the ordinary citizens, contrary to what he would want Nigerians to believe when he spoke at the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Daura, Katsina state on Saturday.

“It is unfortunate that the same President, who, in an interview with Voice of America (VOA) last week, could not present any agenda to justify his re-election bid, is attempting to sway Nigerians with cosmetic patriotism.

“What President Buhari’s handlers fail to understand is that Nigerians, being direct victims of his misrule, are aware that the harsh and reckless policies of his incompetent administration, coupled with his body language, are expressly responsible for the untold economic hardship, ethnic division and daily bloodletting currently ravaging our nation.

“If, indeed, the President was out to serve, as he claimed at the APC congress, we challenge him to show any of his 2015 campaign promises he has fulfilled or any development project initiated and implemented to the benefit of the people in the last three years.

“President Buhari’s second term agenda is directly a quest to continue to enrich the Presidency cabal, promote nepotism and protect cronies and corrupt members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the long arms of the law.”

In another statement also on Sunday, the PDP described Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as “a product of corruption”, saying that “Nigerians, particularly, the younger generation, are thoroughly disappointed in him for allowing himself to be used as the poster boy for diversion of public attention from the impunity and corruption that saturate the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)”.

The party added, “As a professor of law, and an occupant of the exalted seat of the Vice President of our country, Prof. Osinbajo should know better than allowing himself to be used to bandy figures and make unguarded statements at public events, such as his comments at the APC ward congress in Lagos, where he described everyone else as ‘thieves’.

“We note that Vice President Osinbajo has refused to heed wise counsel and accord respect to his office by desisting from such unguarded comments only because he has been sucked in and entangled in the propaganda, deception, impunity and sleazes that not only brought their administration to power, but have become its trademarks in the last three years.

“…we urge Prof. Osinbajo to take heed, retreat to the inner room, and conduct a soul searching before the great cloud of witnesses. He should also note that propaganda and, particularly, false accusations are not only abhorred by the Holy Books, but will also not deliver the APC and its incompetent administration from the resolve of Nigerians to kick them out, come 2019.”
