The prayer of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, simply identified as Engr Nwosu, to have the national headquarters of the party unsealed has been refused by a Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Abdul Kafarati.

Engr Nwosu brought a fundamental rights enforcement application against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over the continued closure of the office, also known as Wadata Plaza.

However, the court on Monday refused the application by the PDP chieftain who prayed for the reopening of the party secretariat in Abuja.

Justice Kafarati, in his ruling on the matter held that there was no evidence of service of the motion-on-notice on the defendants.

The applicant’s counsel, Joel Onumonu, information to the court that he has the proof of service conducted by the court bailiffs, however did not change the ruling.

Staff of the secretariat, who have continued to demand for the reopening of the plaza, have been without jobs, after they were forced out of the premises since May 2016, following disputes between Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi on who is the authentic leader of the party.

The case between the contending leaders of the party is presently before the Appeal Court in Abuja.
