PDP wins 4 out of 5 LGAs in Imo Assembly rerun poll

Results of the Saturday House of Assembly elections in Imo State have seen the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) increase its seats in the 9th assembly in the state to 13 out of the 27 seats of the state local government areas.

This followed the party winning four out of five local government areas where supplementary elections took place.

The party had won nine seats at the end of the March 9 House of Assembly elections in the state two weeks ago.

In the rerun election in Ikeduru state constituency, INEC declared Mr. Uche Ogbuagwu of the PDP winner having polled a total of 18,791 votes to beat his closest rival, the APC candidate, who polled a total of 4,042 votes.

Paschal Okolie of the PDP was declared the winner of the election in Orlu state constituency after he scored 8677 votes to beat his closest rival Mr. Okechukwu Okafor of the AA who scored 7768 votes.

Also in Ngorokpala state constituency, Okereke Tochi of the PDP was declared the winner of the election. He polled 11,500 votes to beat his closest rival, Egwu Obinna of AA who scored 7557.

A PDP candidate is also said to have won Oguta seat in the state House of Assembly.

APC’s Chike Okafor, however won Okigwe South Federal Constituency election.
