PDP’s gale of suspension hits Omisore

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP’s) gale of suspension that has gone through Ondo and Ogun since the Appeal and Supreme courts’ judgement that favoured the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the party has birthed in Osun State.

One of the victims in the state is Senator Iyiola Omisore, former deputy governor of the state and its governorship candidate at the last gubernatorial election.

Suspended with Omisore was chairman of another faction of the party, Dr. Bayo Faforiji; Bunmi Jenyo; Chief Ojo Williams and Bade Falade.

Their suspension was contained in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the state party Chairman, Mr. Soji Adagunodo and the Secretary, Mr. Bola Ajao.

“The state executive committee received recommendation from various wards to local governments and senatorial districts, to suspend the following PDP members: Dr. Bayo Faforiji, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, Chief Ojo Williams and Hon. Bade Falade.

“In accordance with the provisions of the PDP constitution and inherent powers vested on the state executive committee of the party, the said individuals are hereby suspended as recommended.”

Adagunodo-led faction of the PDP added that Omisore should go and clear his name with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before involving in the affairs of party.

This is coming after a faction of the PDP in the state loyal to Omisore on Thursday sacked the National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo and Adagunodo.

Dr. Bayo Faforiji, who is the Chairman of the faction loyal to Omisore made the announcement during a congress at the PDP secretariat located along Osogbo/Gbongan Road on Thursday. The faction also ejected the immediate chairman of the party, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa as well as Secretary of Adagunodo-led executive, Bola Ajao.

It would be recalled that the Ogun State chapter of the PDP also on Friday suspended Buruji Kashamu, the senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, alongside six others.

In Ondo State, Prince Poroye, the state chairman of the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction and all his supporters have also been considered as none members of the party by the Makarfi led faction.
