Your people, not Obama voted you out, US tells Jonathan

The United States (US) government has told former President Goodluck Jonathan to spare its immediate past President Barack Obama and officials of blames as to why he was defeated by President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential elections.

Jonathan was quoted in a new book “Against the Run of Play,” written Olusegun Adeniyi, that Obama and other US officials were bent on ensuring that he was removed from office based on unfounded allegations of corruption.

He also claimed that the former US president went as far and convincing France and the United Kingdom to work against his re-election.

But responding on Wednesday, the US embassy spokesman, Russel Brooks, said the election of Buhari in 2015 was the expression of the will of Nigerians and not manipulation by any other force.

“The US advocated a free, fair and transparent election. The election outcome was an expression of the will of the Nigerian people,” he said.

I see no reason why this issue should spread further than this. Why crying over split milk?

It is an issue because Jonathan was wrong about his analysis. Now that Russel Brooks has settled scores, Jonathan will know he has no reason to drag the US into the election that kicked him out

It is not an issue because whether the reply or not, the president of Nigeria is now BABA Buhari

A child will always behave like one, you’re such a child and you need to start thinking like an adult. Jonathan has only aired his opinion which is contrary to the US, that doesn’t make him a fool.

It makes him a fool. This is a belated opinion or whatever you called it. He should have said this for long even before handing over. Truly you are the fool.

@Animashaun Ayodeji, you’re right! Airing an opinion contrary to the popular does not make you foolish.

I see Jonathan as a respectful person and learned before now but he has lost it now. There was no external factors to loosing of his election. Has he forgot the real person behind his ordeal is Obj. Stupid Jonathan.

I’m reading people’s responses to a book effectively advertised and yet to be released, and I’m amazed! I fear most Nigerians have been sucked into a bandwagon mentality.

Asides the fact that Ex President Jonathan has rights to air his opinion on issues, the realities on ground both in Nigeria and the US should drive home his point in the book. Even Americans knew that Obama interfered in our Elections in 2015.

With the incessant anti-GEJ campaign run by CNN and the fact that Obama’s own campaign manager, David Axelrod, ran the vicious, petulant APC campaign, just for starters, anyone still denying Obama’s influence is either just simply naive or really not so smart.
