Sati said, “It is unfortunate that we lost Afon, one of the most dedicated members of our party and a committed lawmaker just after he was declared winner to occupy his seat again.

He said Hon. Afon had taken ill and was flown abroad for treatment, but he died on Sunday after he was declared winner of the election.

He added that “Though he has been sick for a while but we received the news of his demise with rude shock.”

“Yes, I was at the collation centre when I was called that Hon. Ezekiel Afon is dead. He was sick and was taken out of the country for treatment, but I was told that he died today.”

Hon. Afon was elected member of the state House of Assembly in 2015 on the platform of PDP, but he defected to the ruling APC where he was re-elected member representing Pengana constituency.
