PLATEAU GOVERNORSHIP POST: PDP’s Useni drags Lalong to Supreme Court

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State In the 2015 election, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni (retd), has dragged Governor Simon Lalong to the Supreme Court.

The Court of Appeal had on Friday validated the victory of Governor Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the March 9, governorship election.

But Useni, not satisfied with the ruling of the appellate court instructed his legal team to proceed to the Supreme Court without any delay.

The PDP candidate’s media consultant, Yiljap Abraham, who confirmed this in a statement in Jos on Friday said:

“Governorship candidate of the Plateau PDP in the 2019 election, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Sen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, has instructed his legal team to prepare and proceed to the Supreme Court immediately to challenge Friday’s judgment of the Appeal Court which affirmed the decision of the lower tribunal.

“The decision was taken during a review meeting with the legal experts and General Useni.

“The legal team, led by Chief Counsel, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, with Edward Pwajok, SAN, Benson Igbanoi, Sunny-Gabriel Odey, and many other legal experts are expected to lodge the appeal at the Supreme Court within two weeks.”

Useni, who applauded his legal team for holding strongly to the tenets of the profession said, ““Our cause is the right cause. We should not make the law look as if it is not important. Let the Supreme Court declare whether lying on oath is not against the law.”
