PLATEAU: Stop playing petty politics with killings, youths warn legislator

Barely a day after the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Bassa Local Government Area, there has been another attack by armed persons on a community in the area, killing at least six persons, the police have disclosed.

This development will be seen as a setback to the objective of the curfew announced Friday by Lalong to “guarantee effective security operation toward protecting life and property.”

Police revealed that on Saturday night, armed persons attacked Taegbe, a village in Bassa, killing at least six people while injuring five others.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Terna Tyopev, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos that the attackers, who invaded the village at 12 midnight, also burnt down 10 houses.

Tyopev said that those injured had been taken to various hospitals in Jos, the capital of the state.
Residents were reported as saying that those killed included five adults and a teenager.
