Lalong wins Plateau governorship election

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State on Saturday clarified that the former Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Richard Tokma, was not sacked but rather vacated the post when a substantive SSG was appointed last Thursday.

Lalong made this clarification in a statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Makut Macham.

The statement said, “Following the recent appointment of Prof. Danladi Abok Atu as the new Secretary to the Government of Plateau State(SGS), it has become necessary to clarify the purported “sack” of the erstwhile Acting Secretary to the Government, Mr. Richard Tokma, as reported by some media platforms.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Tokma is a serving Permanent Secretary in charge of Policy and General Services in the Plateau State Civil Service, who was appointed to act by the Governor in September 2018 following the resignation of the former SSG, Rufus Bature, to contest elections.

“The insinuation of the purported ” sack” of Mr. Tokma is therefore untrue and should be disregarded.

“Governor Lalong appreciates his immense contributions during the period of his acting.

“Mr. Tokma continues his career serving as the permanent Secretary Policy and General Services.”
