PLATEAU STATE: Police arrests AK 47 bearing herdsman

The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a herdsman bearing an AK 47 rifle at Daffo community in the Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.

According to Mr. Terna Tyopev, the command’s spokesman, the arrested herdsman was bearing an AK 47 rifle with serial number HC2614.

“The suspect has been transferred from Bokkos to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Jos and is being interrogated,” the spokesman said.

Mr. Tyopev also revealed that between Wednesday, March 7, and Friday, March no less than 16 people had been confirmed killed in the multiple attacks on several villages in Plateau State.

The arrest is coming days after four victims were murdered in fresh attacks by gunmen in the state.

Reports say the victims said to be children below the age of 10 were killed on Friday night in La’ake village located of Kwall district when the attackers invaded the village in commando style.

According to Daniel Kadzia, the village head, the attackers “perfected their dastardly acts” within few minutes, having noticed that the youth and the men had gone for mining at that time they struck.
