President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday in Lagos reiterated the ruling party’s commitment and readiness to prosecute and jail anyone caught in illegal tampering of the nation’s wealth.

His remarks came as the All Progressives Congress (APC) rallied supporters in the country’s commercial nerve centre in furtherance of its presidential campaigns.

Buhari said that in line with the promises made in 2015 his administration would not spare looters but commit them to prison, if found guilty.

“I assure you that the promises we made in 2015, based on which you elected us, we’ve made tremendous progress and I have mentioned through others what the administration is doing on security, economy and fighting corruption.

“I assure you, whoever is entrusted with public property, his primary responsibility is to account for it,” he said.

He added, “If the proper thing is not done, we will eventually get a hold of them, take away what they have stolen and get them in prison.

“This is our duty, this is our responsibility and I assure you we will continue to do it.”

The Lagos mega rally held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and had party big wigs like Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Adams Oshiomhole, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Babatunde Raji Fashola in attendance.
