The joy of a family in Ilesa, Osun State was cut short yesterday as two of their siblings of the same parents aged three and five were mowed down by a Police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).

It was gathered that the driver of the APC, who was suspected to be drunk rammed into an electric pole before crashing into the compound, crushing the kids, Sade and Aanu to death.

The driver reportedly ran away with the vehicle with angry residents of the area, hot on his trail, but he escaped.

Irked by this, the angry mob were said to have attacked the ‘A’ Division Police Station at Ayeso where they vandalised all the police operational vehicles parked in the station including other valuable property and police quarters inside the station.

Policemen on duty were reported to have engaged the mob by firing tear gas canisters and shot into the air repeatedly to scare them.

It was learnt that the mob did not leave the station until they accomplished their mission.

The distraught father of the kid was said to have gone to the police station to collect the corpses but he was denied.

But the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, when contacted, said that the policeman who drove the APC lost control and hit an electric pole which electrocuted the kids.
