Police arraigns herdsmen for unlawful grazing in Ekiti
Police on Friday arraigned two herdsmen– Musa Haruna and Saliu Sanusi – at the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti State for alleged unlawful grazing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on September 30 at the state capital.
He alleged that the defendants unlawfully grazed their cattle in a restricted land.
He said the offense contravened Section 2 and was punishable under Section 7 of the Prohibition of Cattle and Other Ruminants Grazing in Ekiti State Law, 2016.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the defendants, Mrs. Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant them bail with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till October 31 for hearing.
