Police arraigns three men for alleged breach of peace in Oyo
The Police on Thursday arraigned three men at the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for alleged breach of peace in their village.
The defendants – Sarafa Ogunkeye (40), Gafari Ogunkeye (47), and Kamoru Lamidi (57) – were arraigned on a four-count charge of conspiracy, going armed in public, threatened violence and breach of peace.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The defence counsel, Mr. Ola Olaniyi, thereafter asked the court to grant his clients bail on liberal terms.
Magistrate M. M. Olagbenro granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the matter till November 20 for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, ASP Foluke Adedosu, told the court that the defendants allegedly conspired to commit the offence.
Adedosu said the defendants on September 17 at Bosere Village via Ojongbodu, Oyo Town, allegedly went around in public with cutlasses, axes and knives.

She said: “The defendants allegedly armed themselves in public to cause terror to Azeez Adedokun, claiming and declaring war against him.
“The defendants allegedly conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace in the village.”
She added that the offence contravened Sections 80, 86, 249 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
