Police arrest man who stabbed nurse in failed rape attempt

A 20-year-old man, Bashir Yahaya has been arrested by the Kano state police command for allegedly stabbing a nurse in the neck who resisted being raped by him.

According to reports, the incident occurred in a clinic at Tal’udu quarters, in Gwale Local Government where the nurse works.

The spokesman for the Kano State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna who confirmed the incident on Monday said it occurred on May 12, 2019 at about 7:00 p.m

“The police promptly rushed to the scene and conveyed the victim, Aisha Kabir, who had cuts on her neck, to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano.

“The suspect, Bashir Yahaya, was arrested at the scene of the crime and the exhibit of a knife with bloodstain was recovered from him.

Upon his arrest, the suspect confessed to have attempted to rape her.

Haruna added that the culprit would be charged to court after investigations were over.
